BASIS Phoenix Boosters

Volunteer Opportunities — 2026/27

Thank you for your interest in supporting our great school. Below you'll find details on each role. Time commitments range from approximately 5 to 15 hours per month depending on the position, with most roles ramping up slightly around major events.

We're also actively recruiting Grade Level Ambassadors for grades without parent representation — one of the easiest, lowest-commitment ways to get involved.

While several positions have already received expressed interest, we welcome continued conversations. If a different role feels like a stronger match for your skills — or if you're passionate about a position that's currently filled — please don't hesitate to reach out. All board positions will be confirmed by a vote at our first board meeting in August, so there's still time to throw your name in. The best volunteer is one whose strengths match the role.

BOARD POSITIONS

President

Incumbent: Mary Aranki

Leads the Boosters Board, sets the overall direction for the year, and serves as the primary liaison between parents, school administration, and the board. Runs board meetings, helps recruit volunteers, and keeps initiatives on track.

⏱ ~10–15 hours/month

Vice President

Vacant

Supports the President and steps fully into the President's role when they're unavailable — running meetings, representing the Boosters, and keeping initiatives moving forward. A great fit for someone who wants to be deeply involved and is comfortable leading when called on.

⏱ ~10–12 hours/month, scales up when filling in

Treasurer

Incumbent: Olga Ptashnyuk

Manages the Boosters' finances: tracks income and expenses, maintains the annual budget, handles deposits and reimbursements, and provides clear financial reporting. A finance background helps but isn't required — comfort with spreadsheets and attention to detail matter most.

⏱ ~5–8 hours/month

Communications Director

Incumbent: Arcelie Butterfield

Oversees parent outreach, drafts and sends email updates, and ensures clear, timely communication about Booster events and initiatives. Works closely with the President, Events team, and Spirit Shop Chair.

⏱ ~10–15 hours/month

Secretary

Incumbent: Jennifer Brown

Takes minutes at board meetings, maintains organizational records, and supports board communication and organization. A good role for someone detail-oriented and reliable with limited time for in-between-meeting work.

⏱ ~5–8 hours/month

Business Development

Incumbent: Anita Mayur

A strategic, outward-facing position focused on growing revenue and partnerships. Builds relationships with local businesses, secures sponsorships, and shapes long-term revenue strategy alongside the President, Treasurer, Spirit Shop Chair, and Fundraising Chair.

⏱ ~10–12 hours/month

CHAIR OPPORTUNITIES

Spirit Shop Chair

Vacant

Launches and manages our online Spirit Shop on the Boosters website — a brand-new revenue stream that directly supports school programs. Works closely with the Communications Director and owns the full picture: products, designs, storefront, inventory, and sales tracking. A great fit for someone with an entrepreneurial streak or e-commerce, design, or marketing experience.

⏱ ~8–12 hours/month build-out, ~5–8 once established

Website / Social Media Chair

Vacant

Maintains the Boosters' website and social media pages, posting updates about events, fundraisers, and ways to get involved. Helps keep our online presence active and parent-facing.

⏱ ~5–10 hours/month

Fundraising Chair

Vacant

Works with the board to plan and execute fundraising initiatives throughout the school year, coordinates event logistics, and helps engage sponsors and donors. Funds raised directly support student programs.

⏱ ~8–12 hours/month, heavier near events

GRADE LEVEL AMBASSADORS

Grades 6–12 Ambassadors

Vacant

Ambassadors share Booster messages and event information with families in their student's grade via grade-level WhatsApp groups. One of the easiest, lowest-commitment ways to be involved and a great entry point for parents new to volunteering. We're actively looking for ambassadors across multiple grades — ideally, you would support your own student's grade level.

⏱ ~5–8 hours/month

All volunteers are expected to be part of the BASIS Phoenix Boosters paid annual membership for the 2026/27 school year.
